Summary

Provides support to patrons in a library; organizes, manages, and disseminates information in a variety of forms, including journals, periodicals, and books. Job Duties: Codes, classifies, and catalogs books, publications, films, audiovisual aids, and other library materials based on subject matter or standard library classification systems. Requisitions for the purchase of new books. Supervises budgeting, planning, and personnel activities. Checks books in and out of the library. Locates unusual or unique information in response to specific requests. Develops information access aids such as indexes and annotated bibliographies, web pages, electronic pathfinders, and online tutorials.

Minimum Requirements

A master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution A minimum of eight years of experience as a librarian after receiving the master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent preparation in some combination of advanced subject degrees, scholarly work, and library experience is required.
