Summary

Provides support to patrons in a library; organizes, manages and disseminates information in a variety of forms, including journals, periodicals and books. Job Duties: Codes, classifies, and catalogs books, publications, films, audiovisual aids, and other library materials based on subject matter or standard library classification systems. Requisitions the purchase of new books. Supervises budgeting, planning, and personnel activities. Checks books in and out of the library. Locates unusual or unique information in response to specific requests. Develops information access aids such as indexes and annotated bibliographies, web pages, electronic pathfinders, and on-line tutorials.

Minimum Requirements

A master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution. Demonstrated equivalent training and experience in the area of bibliographic theory and practice as applied to highly specialized areas, e.g. archives, rare and special collections, etc. may be acceptable in some cases.
